A.R.Rahman Bags 2 Grammy

"This is insane, God is great again"

This is what A.R.Rahman said after getting his second grammy award at Los Angeles.

"Slumdog Millionaire" composer A.R. Rahman struck gold twice at the 52th Grammy Awards.

Rahman won the first Grammy in the best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture category and second for his chartbuster 'Jai Ho' from 'Slumdog Millionaire' in the best Motion Picture song category.

Rahman's rivals in the soundtrack category included Steve Jordan for 'Cadillac Records', Quentin Tarantino for 'Inglourious Basterds', and the producers of 'Twilight' and 'True Blood'.

Before Rahman only three Indians, Sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, Tabla wizard Zakir Hussain, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt who has the distinction of creating the Mohan Veena, were able win Grammy awards and that too only when they collaborated with other western musicians.

Altough Rehman is the first one to get a grammy in India for individual performance for the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' but I think we have seen his much better work in movies like Dil Se, Roza, Rang de Basanti etc, but these movies were not even nominated.
